Latin 2

Latin 2 continues the work begun in the First year and is open to students who have knowledge of all 5 declensions, 1st and 2nd declension adjectives and 1st conjugation verbs. Students will continue to expand Latin vocabulary, master advanced Latin grammar and increase their fluency in translations. Parsing and labeling of sentences will continue to be emphasized when translating Latin to English.

There will be weekly homework assignments.
Each student must purchase an answer key and parents must use this to oversee their work.
There will be weekly vocabulary quizzes as well as occasional take home tests.

All students will take the National Latin Exam in March.
The NLE is a worldwide exam that is given to Latin students.
Here is their philosophy from their website:
Exam is predicated on providing every Latin student the opportunity to experience a sense of personal accomplishment and success in his study of the Latin language and culture. This opportunity exists for each individual student since, on the National Latin Exam, he is not competing with his fellow student on a comparative basis, but is evaluated solely on his own performance on the exam. The basic purposes of the NLE are to promote the study of Latin and to encourage the individual student.
